Cloud servers enable companies to get "enterprise level" IT without having to pay a large amount of extra money, it has been claimed. ">David Pratt, chief operating officer at ThinkGrid, said cloud storage might prove to be a cost-effective option during the recession.
He said: "It saves them money, gives them business continuality, access anyway [and] it ups the game in terms of the level of IT that these guys can use."
A recent survey conducted by Gooroo found that more than half of the small firms in the UK will be using cloud software solutions for key operations by the end of next year.
Mr Pratt added that during the economic downturn, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) do not have the resources to invest any significant quantity of funds into their IT solutions.
The advantage of cloud storage options is that it can be purchased on a pay-as-you-go basis, he explained.
