ecommerce industry should rest assured that this is being tackled.">At least that is what e-retail community organisation the Internet Media in Retail Group (IMRG) has told businesses.
IMRG director of operations David Smith said that a new scheme aimed at reassuring customers that their details will be safe online is being rolled out.
"Internet Shopping is Safe (ISIS) is a trust mark and basically what we are looking for retailers to do is to join the trusts and to display the logo on their site," he explained.
The intention of the logo is to give consumers the confidence that the ecommerce site is bona fide and that they will be submitting their credit card details over a secure connection.
This comes after the latest IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index revealed that the ecommerce annual growth of 19 per cent in 2008 was lower than previous years, highlighting the fact that online spending is not immune to the economic downturn.
