All businesses 'are exposed to online fraud'

<a href=Ecommerce businesses could do with stepping up their security measures in a bid to further protect their customers from the dangers of online crime.">According to electronic payment and risk management solutions provider CyberSource, all online businesses are exposed to the crime.

It claimed that the rapid popularity increase of online shopping over recent years has meant that total revenue losses have climbed accordingly, which is a substantial amount during times of economic crisis.

As such, a CyberSource spokesman commented: "Online fraud is a fact of life in almost every business in the world."

He added that it is a "predictable problem" in any environment in which a card-not-present transaction has to occur.

Meanwhile, despite more consumers turning to ecommerce in order to find credit crunch bargains, a recent study conducted by Shop.org found that 54 per cent of online vendors are expecting a slowdown in growth over the forthcoming year.
