SEO 'should benefit users'

<a href=Ecommerce sites and business portals should use search engine optimisation (SEO) strategies that benefit users, an expert has claimed. ">On the Google AdSense blog, user experience researcher Ricardo Prada recommended using page titles that are relevant to the content on the page.

This, he said, would make it easier for visitors to a site to understand exactly what each of the articles is about at a glance.

The expert advised against trying "sneaky" strategies to boost rankings on search engines.

He explained that many of the techniques used in the past are now out of date and could have an adverse effect on rankings.

Other strategies Mr Prada recommended considering were focusing on efficient layout rather than "flashy design" and using advertisements to complement a site rather than distract from it.

This comes after a poll conducted by Twt and set up by Search Engine Journal found that nearly half of the respondents believed that putting keywords into a domain name has a positive effect on Google rankings.
