Online marketing interest keeps rising, new report shows

Interest in digital marketing including mobile and social media channels is set to keep on growing among businesses in the publishing industry. That is the conclusion of a new report from the Association of Online Publishers (AOP), which has revealed that growing numbers of firms are now opting to put more money into digital marketing as they look to reach a wider consumer base.

Of those companies polled, one in four stated their intention to step up levels of investment in email marketing, while a significant proportion are also keen to make use of mobile media to reach consumers on the go.

Welcoming the findings, AOP chairman and Thomson Reuters consumer media manager Tim Faircliff said: "A return to growth will provide all our businesses with a renewed energy and focus on people skills, revenue generation and business models plus the opportunity for exciting innovation around mobile and video."

Earlier this month, the editor of the Social Media Portal, Tim Gibbon, explained that, with the recent launch of its Buxter application the online marketing potential of Facebook has increased further still.
