Google 'loves keywords in domain names'

Firms looking to rank highly on search engines such as Google might do well to purchase a <a href=domain name that is keyword-rich, a recent survey suggests. ">A poll conducted by Twt and set up by Search Engine Journal found that nearly half of the respondents believe that Google "loves keywords in the domain name".

Only two per cent said that the search engine put no store in domain names when returning results, while three per cent believe that it is a "Google glitch" when results appear to be based on the domain name.

A further 29 per cent asserted that keywords do not matter in domain names as much as they used to but thought that they still had an impact.

Ann Smarty of Search Engine Journal said it is likely a domain name that is a direct match for a search will be returned in the top five results if it is a .com site.

This comes after web hosting firm Digital Pacific claimed that a short address featuring keywords is the best option for online companies.
