Managed hosting 'allows firms to control costs'

A recent report has concluded that <a href=managed hosting options are being taken up by many firms looking to control their costs. ">The study, conducted by business and IT analyst Quocirca asserted that managed hosting is attractive to both small and large companies.

It explained that it makes it easier to acquire IT infrastructure at a "controlled cost" and adds value to their "broader business community".

"Even during economic hard times, managed hosting providers are seeing growth as businesses can deploy new applications on infrastructure paid for out of operational expenditure," Quiroca commented.

The firm noted that the quality of service provided by managed hosting firms is often better than that offered by internal departments.

Adopting managed hosting options could also make it easier for applications to be shared with suppliers, partners and customers.

This comes after research by IT industry analyst IDC indicated that the IT services market in Europe, which includes the managed hosting sector, will grow at a compound annual rate of 3.2 per cent between 2009 and 2013.
