Hosted exchange 'can be a cost-effective option'

Small and medium enterprises could find that hosted exchange is a relatively cheap option for keeping remote workers connected, an expert has claimed. According to independent provider of mobile and hosted IT solutions Genesis Communications, it is becoming increasing important for employees to have access to information such as emails, calendars, quotations, presentations and customer records.

Mark Seemann, product strategy and development director at Genesis Communications, said that secure access is often difficult to maintain.

He added that it could also be an expensive system to set up effectively and safely.

However, "hosted exchange and BlackBerry can help provide this capability in a cost effective manner," he asserted.

Mobile working solutions are becoming an increasingly important part of the business world.

Indeed, a recent survey conducted by data protection solutions firm CREDANT Technologies found that 44 per cent of people store work documents and company information on their mobile phones.
