mobile internet market may not have been greatly affected by Google's decision to sell the Nexus One smartphone to itself.">Editor of Mobile Gazette Conrad Longmore made the claim after it was revealed that the Apple iPhone 3GS outsold Google's offering in its launch week.
According to Flurry, 80 times more iPhone 3GSs were sold than the Nexus One.
But Mr Longmore said: "It will not be particularly risky as their core business is elsewhere."
In selling the handset to itself, the search engine website has not threatened carriers.
This is because many of then offer SIM-only contracts so that consumers can choose which unlocked phone they want to use with the deal.
Flurry explained that the marketing and selling of the device was done via E-commerce and through Google's own website.
An "early buzz" surrounding the phone may have meant that it fell short of sales expectations, the firm predicted.
