Companies 'should not cut data storage spending too much'

Firms have been warned that cutting their spending on data and <a href=network storage might have adverse consequences further down the line. ">According to Carla Arend, program manager of European infrastructure software at IDC, many businesses are looking to streamline their data centres and make them more efficient.

She asserted that it was a positive sign that enterprises were beginning to take note of how much they are spending on data storage.

However, the expert warned that this might be a good short-term solution but could not last for too long.

Ms Arend asserted: "At some point it will negatively impact their ability to do business because they will put their infrastructure at risk or their data at risk."

This comes after the Worldwide Quarterly Storage Software Tracker published in June by IDC revealed that in the first three months of the year, the storage software market declined for the first time in 21 quarters.
