Growth predicted in online shopping in Western Europe

Businesses that have still not managed to set up a <a href=website to sell their goods to internet shoppers may want to do so as quickly as possible, it has been encouraged.">A new report from Forrester Research Inc has highlighted that money spent through online shopping rose by 12 per cent last year in Western Europe, in comparison with 2008.

Meanwhile, it is predicted that further growth will transpire in the next five years as online shopping continues to become more mainstream.

In its report, "Western European Online Retail Forecast, 2009 To 2014", Forrester said: "As the economy gets better and given the satisfaction with the internet, it is highly likely that consumers will continue to look to the web for purchasing because of the benefits they find in using this channel."

Further findings of the report were that the gap was being bridged in relation to the number of women to men visiting online stores, with high-income shoppers making up 44 per cent of online purchasers in Western Europe.

Added convenience, the chance to read reviews of products and the ability to compare prices are some of the benefits individuals find in conducting their shopping over the internet.
